About the Teacher

Hello, my name is Paula Reed. I am devoted to teaching and helping students become the best they can be. My motto is: "Own your uniqueness and be the best version of you, you can be." I am excited to be a part of the Antler family and teaching English I.

I am certified in Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle School Science and Secondary English. I have taught a variety of ages and subjects. Early in my teaching career I taught Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades, then moved to 7th grade science. District restructuring caused a break in my teaching which led me to the OU Health Sciences Center where I worked in two areas: Department of Medicine/Rheumatology and the Graduate College Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The past 4-6 years I have been a long-term sub or temporary hire in numerous content areas including History (U.S., World and PreAP Oklahoma), DECA (marketing and entrepreneurship), Spanish I/II (I do NOT speak or read Spanish), English IV, basic journalism, yearbook and Biology (on level and PreAP). With each experience I have grown as a teacher and I'm happy to say in every situation the students had success.  I am passionate about teaching and while teaching English IV, I developed a love for teaching English and added it to my teaching certificate.  The skills taught in English are used in most, if not all areas of our lives.

Outside of school I enjoy watching movies, reading, singing with the OK City Chorus of Sweet Adelines (a women's a cappella barbershop chorus), church activities and of course spending time with my family.

I have been happily married to the greatest man for 40 years. We have two beautiful grown daughters who both work for Edmond schools. One is a SPED teacher and the other a cafeteria cook. We also have two wonderful grandchildren-11th grade grandson and 5th grade granddaughter-that we have the privilege of raising. I like to think they are keeping me young! The last two members of our family are two rescue dogs: Sugar Plum, a 3-legged Havanese and Mason McJagger, a Shih Tzu.
