¡Holá! ¡Bienvenidos a la clase de espanol!

Growing up overseas in a multicultural environment and a family who spoke many languages, I learned Spanish, Greek and English at home, then French and Arabic in a school with an immersion program.  That means that only the language(s) being acquired is spoken in all the disciplines.  Yes, it works best when you start very young!
Throughout my life, I had the good fortune of traveling to many countries which gives me a vast appreciation for people and cultures of the world.  I graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1978 with a BA in Interior Design.  When my daughter started school I realized my desire to teach languages which embarked me on my career in education.  I started teaching language to home schooled students, then went to Putnam City School district where I taught Spanish at the elementary level for 10 years, followed by Spanish, and at times French, for another 10 years at PC North High School.  Today I am very happy to be part of the staff at Deer Creek High School and am so excited to meet my new students and their families.
Among my interests are traveling, art, architecture, music, dance, poetry, and cooking (yes, I plan on occasionally cooking for you!), gardening, local and foreign films, and enjoying outdoors activities.  But my life would be meaningless without the company of my family and friends, so I try to enjoy them as much as possible during my free time.
Educationally speaking, students make my day when they are attentive, respectful of all, and courteous.  I promote and expect good values and manners in class; I also appreciate and encourage good example setting and a sense of pride in doing our best.  Turning work in on time and staying on track with our daily class requirements are very good habits to have as well.
I am a serious fan of regular people making good choices.  Be one of those people.  We're going to have a great year!
