Hello My Name Is...

Stacey Conley

Welcome to English III, Newspaper, and Yearbook!!

‚Äč
This is my third year at Deer Creek schools.  I moved to Edmond from Lubbock, Texas in 2015.  I taught AP Literature, Journalism, and Yearbook at Coronado High School for six years.  I was also a UIL Academic coach for Prose & Poetry and Journalism.
I graduated from Texas Tech University with my masters in English in 2007.  I received my bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University in 1993 in Political Science.

While working on my master’s, I presented papers on Vietnam War Literature at several conferences, and did extensive research in Trauma Theory and Vietnam Literature. My thesis centers on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and how soldiers are affected by their experiences during war and how these soldiers use writing as a venue to help them deal with the trauma of war.

I truly love teaching, and am fortunate to have found my calling in life. I cannot imagine doing anything else. I love to learn and I love learning with my students. I learn from them as much as they learn from me; it is a great experience.

This is my third year advising Newspaper here at DCHS and my second to advise Yearbook.  I am looking forward to producing the newspaper and yearbook with the staff members.
